The Highland Gardens of Scotland Tour
Experience the Highlands’ dramatic scenery and rich history, from intimate private gardens to grand castle grounds. Highlights include the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (est. 1670), plus time in Edinburgh’s Old Town—walking the Royal Mile from Edinburgh Castle to St. Giles’ Cathedral—with countryside excursions. Then, we travel by train into the Highlands to visit Drummond Castle for a private tour of “one of the finest formal gardens in Europe,” followed by the contrasting charm of Pitcurran House, home of the Honorable Ranald and Mrs. Noel-Paton, who open their garden to private groups.
We also plan to visit Kinross House (subject to availability), a lavish late-17th-century country house overlooking Loch Leven, and Cawdor Castle, said to have inspired Shakespeare’s Macbeth. A boat tour on Loch Ness, 16th-century castle gardens, whisky tasting, and time for a wee dram in a local pub or distillery round out the journey.
