Why Garden Tours?
Garden-themed vacations emerged from the increased demand for domestic travel and the desire to connect with nature. The growing popularity of gardening has created a new market for travelers eager to learn, see, and dig in!
Each Art in Bloom tour is based in a central location where a multitude of gardens, galleries, and gastronomic delights are experienced each day. They offer learning and hands-on experiences with renowned local horticultural expert guides. With destinations from the coast of Maine to the Western Seaboard and across the Pond, travelers witness a diversity of art, gardens, and architecture.
Regional and state garden clubs and horticultural societies have discovered our tours to be excellent fundraising opportunities. The positive feedback from our garden tour participants indicates that we offer top-quality tours guaranteed to excite your senses and help you grow!
Meet the Team!
The energetic team of Teresa Watkins and Tony DeSormier owns Art in Bloom Garden Tours.
Teresa is a garden author, landscape designer, horticulturist, and radio personality. Watkins also owns Sustainable Horticultural Environments (SHE), where she designs unique, beautiful, and award-winning sustainable landscapes. SHE received the Best of Houzz Service award nine years in a row. Over the past 25 years, more than 40,000 green industry professionals, Master Gardeners, Master Naturalists, and homeowners have attended Teresa’s landscaping talks and programs. Her educational offerings range from the basics of environmental conservation to themed designs like fairy gardens and xeriscaping.
A member of Garden Communicators International and a 25-year veteran of her award-winning garden radio show, In Your Backyard, Teresa now hosts Better Lawns and Gardens, Florida’s most popular syndicated garden radio program on WFLA-Orlando, iHeart, iTunes, and anywhere you get podcasts. Teresa has written numerous articles on gardening and authored three volumes of the ongoing series A Gardener’s Compendium, which features collections of gardening quotes and anecdotes with well-researched sources and contexts. She enjoys traveling and leading gardening tours, checking off national and world gardens on her ‘bucket’ (pronounced ‘bouquet’) list.
Tony holds a Master’s Degree in Liberal Studies from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. Over the past 20 years, he has taught humanities courses at Valencia and Seminole State colleges. A writer by profession and a storyteller by hobby, Tony complements Teresa’s extensive gardening knowledge with insights into historical and cultural topics. Alongside working with Teresa to transform their bungalow property into a diverse collection of gardens, Tony is also an enthusiastic cross-stitcher.
Together, Teresa and Tony aim to boost the respected reputation of Art in Bloom Garden Tours by sticking to the existing trip schedule and adding new destinations.
