Monday, May 17 – Depart this evening on your overnight flight from your selected U.S. gateway to London. Overnight: Plane
Tuesday, May 18 – Upon arrival at Heathrow, you’ll be greeted and transferred to the Rembrandt Hotel in the heart of London. Depending on your arrival time, your tour begins with an introduction to London and a visit to the fascinating 12th century Garden Museum. Housed in a restored medieval church along the Thames, the museum celebrates Britain’s rich gardening heritage and offers a perfect first glimpse into the artistry we’ll explore throughout our journey. Returning to the hotel, you’ll have time to refresh and unpack before we gather for a welcome reception and dinner. (D) Overnight: London
Sunday, May 23 – Today we bid farewell to the Cotswolds and journey southeast to the Royal Horticultural Society’s flagship garden at Wisley. Spanning 240 acres, Wisley is a living encyclopedia of horticulture, blending formal design with experimental plantings and world-class glasshouses. After our guided tour, there will be time for lunch at the Wisley café before we continue to Gravetye Manor, former home of William Robinson, whose revolutionary ideas transformed English gardening. We’ll have time to explore its exquisite gardens before sitting down to an elegant meal. Later, we check in to Wotton House Hotel, a wonderful property and a gardener’s delight in its own right. Wednesday, May 19 – Today is devoted to the world’s most celebrated garden event: the Chelsea Flower Show. Thanks to our membership in the Royal Horticultural Society, we enjoy entry on members-only day when the crowds are fewer, and the atmosphere feels wonderfully exclusive. Meander at your leisure among show gardens designed by the finest landscape artists in the world, each one a dazzling display of creativity and horticultural mastery. If you wish, wander a short distance to the Chelsea Physic Garden, founded in 1673, where centuries of botanical history unfold in a tranquil oasis. This evening is free for you to explore London at your own pace. (B) Overnight: London
Thursday, May 20 – This morning we leave the bustle of London behind and travel into the storybook landscapes of the Cotswolds. Our first stop is Iford Manor, home to Harold Peto’s enchanting Italianate garden, a Grade I-listed masterpiece of cloisters, terraces, and stone columns. We travel to Highgrove House, the private estate of King Charles III, for a very special visit and afternoon tea. An experienced guide will lead the tour, sharing the gardens’ history, organic practices, inspirations, hidden curiosities, and horticultural innovations. Highgrove House is a place of peace and tranquility, where The King's passion and imagination have been etched onto the Cotswold landscape. From the magnificent Wildflower Meadow to the enchanting setting of the Arboretum, the gardens embody His Majesty's gardening ideals and organic principles. Arriving at the King’s Head Hotel, we have time to settle in and sample any of the local restaurants at our leisure. (B, L) Overnight: Cotswold
Friday, May 21 – After a leisurely breakfast, we set out for Kelmscott Manor, the beloved Cotswold retreat of Arts and Crafts visionary William Morris. Its honey-colored limestone house and intimate gardens capture the essence of English country. In the afternoon, we visit Hidcote, a world-renowned Arts and Crafts-inspired garden in a North Cotswold hamlet, created by the passionate plantsman and gifted designer Major Lawrence Johnston. Across 10.5 acres, its intimate formal spaces lead visitors through changing moods and fresh vistas at every turn. Tonight, we gather together for dinner at the King’s Head. Saturday, May 22 – Our first stop is Pettifer’s Garden, a labor of love developed over 15 years, where bold planting and sweeping views give the garden its unique character. After lunch we continue to Buscot Park, an elegant country house owned by Lord Faringdon and the National Trust. Its gardens are a revelation: a dramatic Italianate water garden with cascading pools, fragrant rose beds, whimsical topiary, and the jewel-like Four Seasons Walled Garden. We return to the hotel this evening with time to enjoy dinner independently. (B, L) Overnight: Cotswolds.
Monday, May 24 – Our morning begins at Vann Gardens, a gem of the Arts and Crafts movement featuring a Water Garden designed by the legendary Gertrude Jekyll in 1911. After lunch at Grantley Arms, we’ll enjoy a visit to another private National Garden Scheme property to be determined according to seasonal availability. Returning to Dorking, the evening is free for you to dine at one of the city’s many fine restaurants. (B, L) Overnight: Dorking
Tuesday, May 25 – Our final full day begins at Great Dixter, the home of celebrated plantsman Christopher Lloyd. Medieval buildings, clipped yew topiary, and dazzling mixed borders—including the famous Long Border—combine to create one of England’s most exuberant and inspiring gardens. We then continue to Sissinghurst, the creation of writer Vita Sackville-West and her husband, Harold Nicolson. Together they transformed the ruins of a Tudor estate into one of the world’s most beloved gardens, with ten distinct “garden rooms” filled with inspired plantings, colors, and scents. Returning to our hotel, we gather this evening for a festive farewell dinner. (B, D) Overnight: Dorking
